Two Parade Day

The Halloween Parade Day came and went

It started at Cohen's school and ended at Parker's old school (we still attend of Fridays and for the "big" events) There was some costume changes and running around, but it worked.

First the Tigger's did their thing and I got an awesome picture of Cohen and Miss Helen, his Pre-K teacher who is the BEST!

Then off to Parker's school where Cohen insisted he get changed into his Odie costume.

Parker was a little bitter Mom forgot the pillow for his Garfield tummy, but I told him he should just be happy Mommy remembered it was Halloween at all.

THe Squire and the Scroll

My AWESOME sister in law bought these books for Parker.

One is the story of The Squire and the Scroll the second is a kind of

character study guide for kids.

Since we are studying Knights, Castles and medieval times it fits perfect.

Also it is nice to spend time with the kids talking about character attributes and

our family beliefs. This has been so GREAT

and even serves and a reminder of things I need to remember for myself.

One More Sticky Field Trip

We took another trip to Mrs Grossman's Sticker Factory in Petuluma, CA

Here we saw how stickers were made and learned all about Mrs. Grossman and how her sticker business was created. You also get to meet her dog Angus.

After our virtual tour we do a small art project with ... you

guessed it STICKERS and then off to the fun part the store.

Hike turned Haiku

We are doing a Poetry anthology through our homeschooling group,

so we decided to use our Tilden nature hike as

somewhat of a diving board for this activity.

First we attended a math workshop at our ISP school.

Then we checked out all kinds of math manipulative's from the resource center.

We played with the manipulative's with open discussion about what they observed about them.

Example: Different shapes, colors, sizes, how some fit together and so on.

We sorted them how ever they deemed necessary and then we began our build.

We made a scale and then did some weighing and discussed greater than less than and equal too. It was awesome and totally fun to watch it not only make more sense to Parker, but click with Cohen

First Homeschool Field Trip

Today was our first Home school field trip to Tilden Park and Nature Center.

The kids had a blast and it was a total reminder to me of how learning is such a process of doing.

Parker was totally in his element of nature and it seemed as if he relished in the freedom of discovery. Cohen followed suit, of course.

Although when we arrived at the nature center surrounded by farm animals Parker caused worry noticing the cow had many penises. Ummmm utters P? Maybe he should have been main stream for a bit longer to know a girl cow had utters and a boy cow does not have many penises. Once I pointed out the obvious he was like oh yeah.

Day saved!

We came close to a tarantula, snake and had a small disagreement with a six year old about weather or not the streams contained alligators. Thankfully Parker knew alligators are not in the east bay, but still can't tell utters from penises, oh well, more outdoor schooling will fix that.
